Henry - Proprietor

Henry Engelbrecht

Business owner.  He took over the store in November 2004.  Henry is a keen Cyclist and enjoys cycling in its totality.  He rides competitively in Mountain biking and Road and enjoys the odd urban/freestyle ride.  He is also involved in the local BMX Club.  His racing machines are the Giant XTC carbon and the Cannondale SuperSix with SRAM Red.  His two sons also race BMX at the Redlands club in Capalaba.  Henry is originally from South Africa where he mainly competed in mountain biking.  He has been in Australia for 5 years now and just recently became an Australian Citizen.  Congratulations!!!!

“Cycling is a fun sport and to be enjoyed by the whole family.  That is why we support all the cycling clubs and organizations in the Redlands, because it doesn’t matter if you are a weekend rider that like his ride on the beach with the kids or you are an elite athlete, we cater for them all.  I’m a family man myself and enjoy our regular family rides all over the Redlands.  Then again, I just as well enjoy the lung-bursting training rides with the guys in the early morning hours throughout the year.  We are trying to create a professional, but friendly atmosphere and once you come and visit us, you will see what I mean.  Ask for a coffee and you will get one while you relax in our little lounge area and watch your favorite cycling movie.  You can even come for a workout on our High Altitude machines.”

2006 12 STEVE AT 6HR

Steve Soldan

Immigrating from Canada, Steve has been a valued member of the RCC team since September 2006.  He brings with him a passion for cycling that dates back to 1992 beginning in the mountains of Banff National Park.  The 24 Hours of Adrenaline mtb race was an annual highlight for him.  With 6 consecutive years under his belt he stood on the podium 5 times in the 5 man team category.  It wasn’t until 2002 when his riding mates convinced him to turn to the ‘Dark Side’ of cycling and get a road bike.  Ever since then Steve can be regularly seen on his mountain bike blasting the single track, on the road or even on a track bike with the WRCC riders.

To further enhance his practical & methodical approach to bike repair he is currently finishing up his Certificate III in Bicycle Mechanics course at the local QLD TAFE college.

Steve’s current riding machines are the Specialized Epic Carbon and his trusty Specialized Tarmac Pro with SRAM Red.

Ethan O’Dell

Ethan is most probably our most talented and most awarded member – he is the QLD champion in the Kilo on the Track and his cupboard is full of the trophies he has won over the years.  Ask him anything about a pro-team rider or what bikes they are riding and he will give you very straight and correct answer.  He rides a Specialized Tarmac SL with, unfortunately, Shimano Dura-Ace.  He loves his Shimano and thinks it’s the best thing since sliced bread.

*A special note to the ladies…Ethan’s currently single and looking for someone to join him on a tandem ride recovery session!!
